Fotocamera Fujifilm X E5 , le mie impressioni.

Innanzitutto un sentito ringraziamento a Fujifilm Italia per il supporto e per avermi fornito in prova la Fujifilm X-E5 insieme a una selezione di ottiche XF. Questa recensione non è un test da laboratorio, ma il frutto di due settimane di utilizzo intensivo in totale autonomia. L’obiettivo è raccontarvi l’esperienza concreta — tra viaggio, strada e condizioni di luce variabili — valutandone l’ergonomia reale, la qualità d’immagine e il piacere d’uso quotidiano.

Recensione basata su un utilizzo intensivo di due settimane, focalizzata su ergonomia reale, qualità d’immagine e feeling d’uso quotidiano. Non si tratta di una prova da laboratorio, ma di un’esperienza concreta in viaggio, per strada e in condizioni di luce variabili.

Cosa mi è piaciuto (PRO)

Tascabilità con IBIS integrato:
È sorprendente avere la stabilizzazione a 5 assi in un corpo così compatto. La X-E5 entra facilmente in una piccola borsa e permette di scattare a mano libera anche di sera senza preoccupazioni. Durante le due settimane di prova ho ottenuto immagini nitide persino a tempi di scatto molto bassi.

Sensore da 40 megapixel:
La risoluzione elevata offre una straordinaria libertà di crop, elemento fondamentale per la fotografia di strada. I file sono ricchi di dettaglio, con un’ottima gamma cromatica e notevole tenuta alle alte luci. Anche lavorando in RAW, la flessibilità in post-produzione è notevole.

Autofocus con riconoscimento soggetti:
Il sistema AF, basato su intelligenza artificiale, si è dimostrato rapido e affidabile. Ho testato il riconoscimento di persone, animali e veicoli, e il tracking dell’occhio si è comportato benissimo anche in movimento: il mio cane, ad esempio, è stato seguito senza esitazioni.

Qualità costruttiva:
Il corpo è solido e trasmette una sensazione di qualità. La texture metallica e le ghiere ben lavorate ricordano l’attenzione di Fujifilm per il design classico, unito alla modernità dell’elettronica più recente. È una macchina che si fa voler usare.

Cosa non mi è piaciuto (CONTRO)

Autonomia ridotta:
Fujifilm ha scelto di mantenere la batteria piccola per contenere le dimensioni, ma questo compromette l’autonomia. In una giornata di lavoro intensa, ho dovuto sostituirla verso metà pomeriggio. È il punto debole più evidente del progetto, soprattutto per chi viaggia leggero.

Mirino EVF sottodimensionato:
Pur essendo funzionale, il mirino resta piccolo e con una risoluzione nella media. Per chi porta gli occhiali, come me, non risulta comodo né immersivo. Un EVF più grande e definito avrebbe davvero completato il pacchetto.

Ergonomia con ottiche pesanti:
Con il 27mm la fotocamera sembra quasi una X100VI per compattezza e bilanciamento perfetto. Tuttavia, montando uno zoom come il 70-300mm, il peso frontale si fa sentire e l’impugnatura non è più ottimale. È una scelta di compromesso, ma in parte inevitabile per mantenere la filosofia “travel-friendly”.

Ghiera “Film Simulation”:
All’inizio ero scettico, la consideravo più una trovata di marketing che un vero strumento. Dopo qualche giorno, però, ne ho colto l’utilità: per chi scatta in JPEG o vuole sperimentare con previsualizzazioni creative può essere interessante, ma chi lavora in RAW difficilmente la userà con costanza.

Conclusioni

In definitiva, la Fujifilm X-E5 si conferma una fotocamera elegante, potente e sorprendentemente completa per le sue dimensioni. Pur con i limiti fisiologici di autonomia e mirino, la combinazione tra portabilità e prestazioni la rende una compagna ideale per chi cerca uno strumento concreto e non solo un oggetto estetico.

Il confronto con la X100VI sorge spontaneo, ma è qui che la X-E5 rivela il suo vero valore. Sebbene la X100VI sia attualmente vittima di un “hype” mediatico che l’ha resa quasi introvabile e, per certi versi, sopravvalutata rispetto al suo reale scenario d’uso, la X-E5 offre una libertà che la sorella a ottica fissa non può garantire. A un prezzo più equilibrato e con una flessibilità operativa superiore, la X-E5 permette di passare dalla discrezione del 27mm pancake alla potenza del 70-300mm o alla qualità del 56mm f/1.2.

Mentre la X100VI rimane un bellissimo oggetto di design vincolato a una sola focale, la X-E5 è una scelta più matura e versatile: una macchina che non si limita a seguire una moda, ma che mette la tecnologia del sensore da 40MP e dell’IBIS al servizio di ogni genere fotografico. Per chi preferisce la sostanza della fotografia alla suggestione del momento, la X-E5 non è solo un’alternativa, ma una soluzione decisamente più sensata.

This review is not a laboratory test, but the result of two weeks of intensive, independent use. My goal is to share the actual experience—spanning travel, street photography, and variable lighting conditions—evaluating real-world ergonomics, image quality, and daily usability.

What I Liked (PROS)

• Pocketability with Integrated IBIS: It is surprising to have 5-axis stabilization in such a compact body. The X-E5 fits easily into a small bag and allows for worry-free handheld shooting even at night. During the two-week trial, I obtained sharp images even at very slow shutter speeds.
• 40-Megapixel Sensor: The high resolution offers extraordinary cropping freedom, a fundamental element for street photography. Files are rich in detail, with excellent color range and remarkable highlight retention. Even when working in RAW, the post-production flexibility is impressive.
• Autofocus with Subject Recognition: The AI-based AF system proved to be fast and reliable. I tested the recognition of people, animals, and vehicles; the eye tracking performed beautifully even in motion—following my dog, for instance, without hesitation.
• Build Quality: The body is solid and conveys a premium feel. The metallic texture and well-crafted dials reflect Fujifilm’s attention to classic design, paired with the modernity of the latest electronics. It’s a camera that makes you want to use it.

What I Didn’t Like (CONS)

• Reduced Battery Life: Fujifilm chose to keep the battery small to maintain the compact size, but this compromises autonomy. During an intense workday, I had to replace it by mid-afternoon. This is the most evident weakness of the project, especially for light travelers.
• Undersized EVF: While functional, the viewfinder remains small with average resolution. For those who wear glasses, like me, it is neither comfortable nor immersive. A larger, higher-definition EVF would have truly completed the package.
• Ergonomics with Heavy Lenses: With the 27mm, the camera almost feels like an X100VI due to its compactness and perfect balance. However, when mounting a zoom like the 70-300mm, it becomes front-heavy and the grip is no longer optimal. It’s a compromise, but partly inevitable to maintain the “travel-friendly” philosophy.
• “Film Simulation” Dial: I was skeptical at first, considering it more of a marketing gimmick than a real tool. After a few days, however, I grasped its utility: for those shooting in JPEG or wishing to experiment with creative previews, it can be interesting, but RAW shooters are unlikely to use it consistently.

Conclusions

Ultimately, the Fujifilm X-E5 proves to be an elegant, powerful, and surprisingly complete camera for its size. Despite the inherent limits of battery life and the viewfinder, the combination of portability and performance makes it an ideal companion for those seeking a practical tool rather than just an aesthetic object.

The comparison with the X100VI is inevitable, but this is where the X-E5 reveals its true value. While the X100VI is currently a victim of media “hype” that has made it almost impossible to find and, in some ways, overrated compared to its actual use cases, the X-E5 offers a level of freedom that its fixed-lens sibling cannot guarantee. At a more balanced price and with superior operational flexibility, the X-E5 allows you to switch from the discretion of the 27mm pancake to the power of the 70-300mm or the quality of the 56mm f/1.2.

While the X100VI remains a beautiful design object bound to a single focal length, the X-E5 is a more mature and versatile choice: a machine that doesn’t just follow a trend, but puts 40MP sensor technology and IBIS at the service of every photographic genre. For those who prefer the substance of photography over the suggestion of the moment, the X-E5 is not just an alternative, but a decidedly more sensible solution.

Ce que j’ai aimé (PROS)

• Format de poche avec IBIS intégré : Il est surprenant de disposer d’une stabilisation sur 5 axes dans un boîtier aussi compact. Le X-E5 se glisse facilement dans un petit sac et permet de photographier à main levée, même le soir, sans inquiétude. Pendant ces deux semaines, j’ai obtenu des images nettes même avec des temps de pose très longs.
• Capteur de 40 mégapixels : La haute résolution offre une liberté de recadrage extraordinaire, un élément fondamental pour la photographie de rue. Les fichiers sont riches en détails, avec une excellente gamme chromatique et une tenue remarquable dans les hautes lumières. Même en travaillant en RAW, la flexibilité en post-production est considérable.
• Autofocus avec reconnaissance de sujets : Le système AF, basé sur l’intelligence artificielle, s’est révélé rapide et fiable. J’ai testé la reconnaissance des personnes, des animaux et des véhicules, et le suivi de l’œil a parfaitement fonctionné, même en mouvement : mon chien, par exemple, a été suivi sans aucune hésitation.
• Qualité de fabrication : Le boîtier est solide et dégage une impression de qualité. La texture métallique et les molettes bien finies rappellent l’attention de Fujifilm pour le design classique, allié à la modernité de l’électronique la plus récente. Ce que je n’ai pas aimé (CONS)

• Autonomie réduite : Fujifilm a choisi de conserver une petite batterie pour limiter l’encombrement, mais cela compromet l’autonomie. Lors d’une journée de travail intense, j’ai dû la remplacer vers le milieu de l’après-midi. C’est le point faible le plus évident du projet, surtout pour ceux qui voyagent léger.
• Viseur EVF sous-dimensionné : Bien que fonctionnel, le viseur reste petit avec une résolution moyenne. Pour ceux qui portent des lunettes, comme moi, il n’est ni confortable ni immersif. Un EVF plus grand et mieux défini aurait vraiment complété l’ensemble.
• Ergonomie avec des optiques lourdes : Avec le 27mm, l’appareil ressemble presque à un X100VI par sa compacité et son équilibre parfait. Cependant, en montant un zoom comme le 70-300mm, le poids vers l’avant se fait sentir et la prise en main n’est plus optimale. C’est un compromis, mais en partie inévitable pour conserver la philosophie “travel-friendly”.
• Molette “Film Simulation” : Au début, j’étais sceptique, y voyant plus un gadget marketing qu’un véritable outil. Après quelques jours, j’en ai pourtant compris l’utilité : pour ceux qui shootent en JPEG ou veulent expérimenter des prévisualisations créatives, cela peut être intéressant, mais ceux qui travaillent en RAW l’utiliseront rarement de manière constante.

Conclusions

En résumé, le Fujifilm X-E5 s’affirme comme un appareil élégant, puissant et étonnamment complet pour sa taille. Malgré les limites physiologiques de l’autonomie et du viseur, la combinaison entre portabilité et performances en fait un compagnon idéal pour ceux qui recherchent un outil concret et pas seulement un objet esthétique.

La comparaison avec le X100VI est inévitable, mais c’est ici que le X-E5 révèle sa véritable valeur. Alors que le X100VI est actuellement victime d’un “hype” médiatique qui le rend presque introuvable et, d’une certaine manière, surévalué par rapport à son usage réel, le X-E5 offre une liberté que sa sœur à focale fixe ne peut garantir. À un prix plus équilibré et avec une flexibilité opérationnelle supérieure, le X-E5 permet de passer de la discrétion du 27mm pancake à la puissance du 70-300mm ou à la qualité du 56mm f/1.2.
