Una breve fuga in Algarve si è trasformata in un viaggio geometrico tra terra, oceano e cielo. Da Lagos, con le sue falesie dorate scolpite dal mare, il percorso mi ha spinto verso i confini occidentali del Portogallo, dove la luce atlantica si fa cruda e drammatica.
I veri protagonisti di questo itinerario fotografico sono stati i guardiani della costa: il maestoso Faro di Cabo de São Vicente, sospeso sul vuoto della “fine del mondo”, e il solitario Faro di Cabo Sardão, incastonato tra pareti di roccia scura a picco sul mare. Per un fotografo, le linee verticali di queste strutture in contrasto con l’orizzonte infinito offrono composizioni potenti e atmosfere senza tempo.
Beyond the Edge of the Earth: Photographing Algarve and its Lighthouses
A brief getaway to the Algarve quickly turned into a geometric journey between land, ocean, and sky. Starting from Lagos, with its golden cliffs sculpted by the sea, the path led me toward Portugal’s western edges, where the Atlantic light becomes raw and dramatic.
The true highlights of this photographic journey were the guardians of the coastline: the majestic Farol de Cabo de São Vicente, perched over the void of the “end of the world,” and the solitary Farol de Cabo Sardão, nested among dark, sheer cliffs. For a photographer, the sharp vertical lines of these structures against the endless horizon offer powerful compositions and timeless atmospheres.
