L’atmosfera storica di Forte Marghera ha ospitato l’edizione di quest’anno del Venezia Comics, offrendo uno sfondo materico perfetto per il ritratto ambientato. Fotografare i cosplayer richiede un equilibrio tra velocità operativa e precisione tecnica.
Le texture dei mattoni a vista e la luce naturale filtrata dalla vegetazione hanno permesso di esaltare i dettagli dei costumi. Ho lavorato principalmente su due fronti: il ritratto stretto, per catturare l’intensità degli sguardi (come negli occhi ipnotici della ragazza in rosso), e la figura intera per valorizzare la dinamicità delle pose. La sfida principale è stata gestire i contrasti tra le zone d’ombra dei bastioni e i colori vibranti delle parrucche e dei tessuti. Il risultato è una serie che celebra la creatività artigianale dei partecipanti immersa in una location dal fascino decadente e senza tempo.
Venezia Comics: The Colors of Cosplay at Forte Marghera
The historic setting of Forte Marghera hosted this year’s Venezia Comics, providing a perfect textured backdrop for environmental portraiture. Photographing cosplayers requires a balance between speed and technical precision.
The exposed brickwork and natural light filtering through the trees helped emphasize the intricate details of the costumes. My focus was twofold: tight close-ups to capture the intensity of the gaze (such as the hypnotic eyes of the girl in red) and full-body shots to showcase the dynamic poses. The main challenge was managing the high contrast between the shadowed areas of the fortress and the vibrant colors of the wigs and fabrics. The resulting series celebrates the artisanal creativity of the participants, deeply immersed in a location full of timeless, decadent charm.
